Max and Min Server Memmory

  • I have server and i will have 385 gb memmory and only SQL SERVER R2 is running

What is the best max and min memmory config default or set another values.

  • 385 GB of memory? That's a huge server.

Have a look at chapter 4 of this book, it discusses memory and gives some rough suggestions and reasons for the settings for max server memory. Min is usually left at 0 (there are cases you'll want something higher)

It's one of those new ones with 3x128GB and 1x1GB RAM chips installed

    😀

Either that was a mistype or it's one of the weirdest virtual server configs I've seen. That said, an ex-client had a production server with 15 GB memory. Yes, 15. I have no idea what chips were in it (it was a physical server), and I'm not really sure I want to know.
