Sharepoint deleting/dropping link to Data Source for SSRS reports

  • Hi there,

Has anyone ever receive this message on sharepoint.

The report server cannot process the report. The data source connection information has been deleted(rsInvalidDataSourceReference).

Reports was published successfully on sharepoint.Everything worked fine and recently came across to the above error. Re-Deployed all reports from BID successfully, and reported started working fine for a day and it errored out again.

  • It sounds like someone or something is removing the data source connection from SSRS.

Check the report to see where the data source connection is pointing to. Often times, SSRS will try to put the data source in the same folder as the report.

I know at my work place that we don't allow that. We delete any that end up local and point all reports to a common shared folder called Data Sources where all the data sources reside. It's a maintenance thing. This way we only have to change things in one place instead of drilling down to each folder and changing the same data source a million times over in a million different places.
