Hi to all,
I want to make some reports on a dimensional model not in a cube. Client doesn't want to build the cube, but he wants to make the reports from the data mart what we created.
And also keep in mind that, the 2nd phase of the project is having the cube implementation. So please suggest me what is the right idea for making the reports on a data mart.
Thanks and Regards,
Srinadh.

There is no "right" idea. What tool / software are you using for reporting?

Which is it you don't want a cube?
I want to make some reports on a dimensional model not in a cube.
But the second phase of the project requires a cube?
the 2nd phase of the project is having the cube implementation.

My Requirement is:
I have a OLTP database, using this i should create a dimensional model (Star or Snowflake schema). Using this model i should give some reports using SSRS.
NOTE: Cube is second phase requirement not the current requirement. Now the first phase development is going on.

Given the first statement, I would say you need the cube before you can do the reports. The reports are supposed to come off the cube.
EDIT: At least, in my experience, that's what the wording of what you posted means. If your client means otherwise, then I think he wants a data warehouse or operational data store, which would be a flattened db, not a Star or Snowflake schema db. I don't see the use of a Star or Snowflake schema in a basic reporting db and it just makes things more complicated.
This very much sounds like a case of a client who doesn't know what he really wants and is just asking for the moon and the stars (and using technical terms he doesn't understand) in the hopes of getting everything.
