Our Reorganize Index task is taking 4 times longer to run then it did before

  • We do a daily reorganization and backup. And every Sunday we do an optimization. Our normal reorganization took 15 minutes and the backup took 30 minutes. Two Sundays ago everything ran as normal, no errors, no changes to the system. Our reorganization every day since is taking about 1 hour, the backup and other steps are taking about the same amount of time as they always have and we haven't seen any other noticeable changes in performance. Where should I look to see what is going on with the indexes.

  • Go into Single User Mode.

Run the DBCC INPUT BUFFER Command an run a SQL Trace, etc.

    Check your DMV's, etc
