I have performed an upgrade to SQL Server 2005 from SQL Server 2000. However I do not believe I did it correctly. The first clue was a connection problem when I went to install the sample db's & tutorials after I did the upgrade. The next clue was when I went to add a new database and the default compatibility level on the New Database Options tab in SSMS did not include SQL Server 2005.
I'm quite new to SQL Server so bear with me if I need to supply additional details. Thanks in advance for the help.

What was the connection problem and what did you see in the drop down for compatibility option?
Also, you did an in-place upgrade?

Turns out the Upgrade was not performed correctly. I had a 3rd party do the install and they did not complete the project correctly. SQL 2000 was not patched up-to-date, therefore the SQL 2005 did not fully install, although parts of it did. After patching the SQL 2005 fully installed and is working correctly.
Thanks
