Hi,
I have had a perennial problem on several different servers. I use the maintenance plan to backup and specify it to automatically delete files older than say 4days. This works fine for data backups but not transaction log backups. The result is the log files do not grow too much but the disk fills up with backup files.
sql server 2000 btw
Grateful for any help

It only starts deleting files after all backups are done succesfully. Do you have ample free space?

Hi,
what I had done was cheked all databases but some of these had the simple recovery mode and I think this is why the files were not deleted. I have created a new plan that just backs upt the log files for the databases with the full recovery mode and its working great.
Many thanks
