Hello,
I'm trying to figure out if it is possible to pause and restart log shipping. Suppose you have log shipping set up in SQL 2000 Enterprise using the standard wizard setup. Now for whatever reason you want to run a report with the standby copy essentially frozen, i.e., don't restore any more logs while the report is running. After the report, you want to re-synch the standby with the production server and keep going.
I was thinking I should be able to simply disable the restore job on the backup server. Production will run normally, and the logs will be shipped normally, but the restores will not happen. When I re-enable the job, I would like all pending t-logs, already copied to the backup server, to be restored.
Is it as simple as disabling and re-enabling that job (and turning off any out-of-sync alarms during the reporting run), or is there something more I'll need to do?
Thanks!
Jason

You can disable the Log Shipping jobs ie., the
Log Shipping Transaction Log Backup job on the Primary Server and the Log
Shipping Transaction Log Copy and Restore jobs on the Secondary Server.
