SQL 2005 into SQL SEREVER 2012

    Hi i am new to SSIS. I am working SQL DBA.

    in my environment limited no of DTS Packages are used in SQL SERVER 2005.

    my task is convert those DTS Packages in SQL 2005 into SQL SEREVER 2012.

    how to migrate these packages.

    i am thinking

    ii) 2005 DTS-->2008 SSIS--->2012 SSIS.

    or any other way

    please tell me any other suggestions

    While you might be able to upgrade the packages directly to 2012, I wouldn't recommend it. Enough changed with SSIS between 2005 and 2008 that your incremental step approach is probably the better way to do it. This way you catch everything.

    You will need BIDS 2008 and then SQL Server Data Tools (either 2010 or 2012, depending on what version of Visual Studio you have installed on your local desktop - assuming you have VS on your desktop).
