I have a Server named cdcd.
I can remote into it by specifying the Computer name cdcd.
I have an instance named cdcd\SF_DB.
I can't create a connection in SSIS or connect via SSMS from a desktop.
I attempt to and when I selct the Database Drop Down no Databases are displayed.
I set allow remote connections and TCP/IP and named pipes are enabled.
The firewall is on the Server.
I can't ping the Server.
I believe the problem may have to do with the Firewall.
Has anyone tried to access a standalone SQL Server?

Yes, Firewall is culprit most of the time. 🙂
