Error 833 : trigger the error

  • Hi,

I tried so hard to recreate the error 833, through simulation using different suggested method. But was not successful. Can I manually add it in the error log of sql server. Is there any proc/function available, which accepts the (system)error number and create this in the log.

    Thanks

Quick suggestion, find a slow/faulty IO subsystem and plug it to your server, maybe an old floppy drive:crazy:

This error's cause would normally by device drivers, firmware, faulty drives etc., not something within the realm of SQL Server. Just wondering why you are trying to do this?

  • What are you trying to do here? Do you just want to see what the form of the message is, or are you testing alerts or similar?
