Does anyone have a clue how the 3 different editions of Standard - BI - Enterprise editions compare in terms of licensing cost. The BI edition offers very interesting additional features, but at what price?

Speak to your MS Reseller or MS directly as to the cost as depending on your aggrements the price may differ and will differ if you want SA and other things on top.
Each edition is licensed differently
Enterprise is Core based only at the Open NL price of $6874 per core, minumum purchase of 4 cores per server then 2 core packs up to 20 cores in a server
BI is done at a server & CAL level at an Open NL price of $8592 per server, plus then each user wanting to connect will need to have a CAL, these are usually at around $210 each
Standard is done at Core or Server CAL options, at an Open NL $1793 per core, again minimum purchase and limits apply, and the Server cost is $898 plus any CALS needed.
But depending on your type of aggrement with MS, these prices WILL change.

Thank you.. I found the guide you attached. Not looking for exact figures, but it is clear that the BI version is tremendously more expensive that the standard version. Looks like we can exploit or retain our current solution if price is the deciding factor.. 😉

Yep, use the edition which does what you need, if you can do what you need in Standard then use Standard, if you need features from BI or Enterprise, the unfortunatly its the price you need to pay to use them features.
