Default values in SSRS not working from WebServer

  Hi all,

  This is a puzzler.

  Created a report which has several cascading parameters, all driven by Shared Datasets. Within BIDS the preview version works fine.

  BUT

  When I deploy the report and shared Datasets to the webserver, the parameters populate with the default values, i.e. 'Select All Items' but the report will not run.

  If I then change one of the inital parameters, which should cascade the parameters to the subsequent ones, again in BIDS the cascading works, but on the server the cascading doesn't refresh.

  I've check that there is no caching of values, forced the refresh of the parameter values but nothing seems to work.

  The only way it seems to work on the server is by removing the default values for parameters, but the requirement is to give the user preset parameters as there are quite a few of them, allowing them to turn off the ones they don't want.

  The parameter lists are quite long (with multi-select allowed) and they are defined as Varchar(max), which should be enough for the amount of data being presented to it - The maximum length is a round 32,000 character, I thought Varchar(Max) in 2008R2 is 2Gbyte.

  Any ideas why the default values work within the BIDS preview, but not on the Webserver.
