From what I read you don't need to license a cold DR server running SQL 2008 R2 Standard
(provided it's the same spec as production and isn't used for more than 30 days)

Can anyone tell me - is this conditional on having purchased Software Assurance with the production SQL licenses
or is it just an intrinsic part of the "plain" SQL license ?
