How to connect data with MS SQL Server 2008

  • Hi,

I'm currently working on a project "Restaurant Management System", an application that will help managing the retail business in restaurants, which includes billing, inventory management, sales and reports. Now I've all the data ready and just don't understand how to establish a connection with MS SQL Server 2008.

I'd be thankful if anyone let me know the process on how to establish a connection with MS SQL Server 2008??

    Thanks!!

  • You'll need a client. SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS) is the overwhelming choice since it is produced by Microsoft so supports the latest features and is free. you can get a copy fro Microsoft's website, it is bundled with SQL Express Edition. Or you can install it from the server installtiion media, e.g. DVD or ISO file.

If you want to bulk load data from files you can use the Import/Export Wizard in SSMS which invokes SSIS or use one of the SQL Server command line tools like bcp.exe (also loaded when you install SSMS) to load data.
