Restore incorrect log backup does not result in error

    Hi,

    I'm running some spot restore checks on the new backup jobs which i have created and i decided to purposely apply an incorrect log file in the sequence just to have a look at the error that i would receive.

    However, not only did i not receive an error message; i was able to bring the database online after applying the incorrect log.

    Any idea why i was able to do this?

    You'd have to describe the sequence of what you did. If you tried to apply a log with the LSN earlier than what's already been applied, it might not error out.

    This process has been tested millions of times and it works rock solid. Either you made a mistake or the backup wasn't what you thought it was.
