Database Mail - Activation Failure

  • Hi,

    I am using SQL server 2008 Standard edition (64-bit). My database mail was working fine few days back. But now on sending any mail it logs "Activation failure" in the database mail log and no mail is send. There have been no changes in the mail profile.

    Activation failure.

    What's wrong with it?

  • when i googled the same error, the first few i looked at all implied that a service pack was applied, but somehow some of the post-install scripts failed to execute; an MVP said it was fine to run the specific scripts manually;

    What I saw so far said it was common for SQL 2005 when getting SP2, but there are others with the same issue, and the solution was still to run a specific script.

    could your server have been patched recently, and that's possibly why the Activation Error is occuring? you posted in SQL 2008 forum, so i'm assuming you are 2008, right?
