"Force delete" Database and/or subscription

  • I have a database to which a user was subscribed with an instance specific to her computer. Her hard drive died on her and she has since re-installed under a new SQL instance.

Due to the way databases are used by a third party program we produce, I have had to create a new database from a backup and we are now using that.

However, to avoid confusion and to keep things tidy I would like to get rid of the old database but...

Is there a way to force a database to delete regardless of publication / subscriptions?

Or of course a force delete of the subscription (if possible) would solve my issue also.

    Any ideas or suggestions?

  • Are you referring to replication? If so, you can go to the publisher, expand "replication", expand the "Publications", choose the one you want and expand it, then right-click on the subscription and delete it. When asked if you want to delete it from the subscriber, click yes and give the creds for that. Then delete the publication if need be.
