SQL 2005 and SQL 2008 installing on same machine

    I have a backup server with SQL 2005. can i install 2008 also on the same machine.

    Are there any white paper. I know it has to be a seperate instance.

    Yes, you can install them on the same machine. I do not believe there are any special actions during install other than making it a seperate instance.

    Yes, as long as;

    The SQl Server 2005 instance is installed first.

    The SQL Server 2005 instance is not SQL Server Express.
