Report Server Not Recognizing SQL Geography Data Type?

  • I have created a simple report using VS 2008 based on a query that contains a column named “PointGeoLocation” of the SQL Data Type Geography. When I preview the report on my development machine the report opens fine. When I deploy this report to the Report Server (version 10.50.1600.1) the report fails with the following error message.

“An error has occurred during report processing. (rsProcessingAborted)

Query execution failed for dataset 'DataSet1'. (rsErrorExecutingCommand)

    Invalid column name 'PointGeoLocation'."

The same is true if I use the Map object as well. The map displays as it should on my development machine within VS2008 but when Deployed to the Reports Server I get the same error…

Of course I cannot check any of the Report Server settings as I'm only a "Developer"

    Any Thoughts by Any Folks???

    Your help would be welcomed.

  • The reports are now working as designed. No one in networking/server Admin changed a thing...so I was told.

No answers where posted thus I'm guessing this should have never been an issue...

    Thanks to all.

    R.
