SSAS 2k5 - Cube Processing Settings

  • I'm sure there's a reasonable explanation of this... Does anyone know why "Report and Continue" in the Dimension Key Errors settings will fail on cube processing instead of just continuing along and reporting at the end of cube processing?

I expect that behavior from "Report and Stop" but not "Report and Continue" and I really don't want to choose "Ignore Error" because I want to see what errors were encountered. This is on the Key Not Found setting.

  • The errors that occurred, they were all key not found errors?

  • I'm only assuming. I could never get the cube to process so long as "Key Not Found" was left as "Report and Continue." But as soon as I changed that to "Ignore Error" and left all other settings at their default, the cube processed fine.

I just want to know why this behavior is happening is all. Because, if possible, I'd like to be able to switch it back and get a report of everything so I can do further research later on.

  • What is the setting of "Ignore errors count", "Stop on error" and "Number of errors"?

If stop on error is chosen and there is a value filled in for number of errors, it is possible that you've just reached the maximum number of errors that the processing engine can ignore.

  • Aaaaahhhhh. Good catch.

For some reason, I had it in my head that all I had to do was leave it at "Report and Continue" and that would cause it continue. Forgot about changing the count info right above it.

    Thanks, Koen.
