Hi,
I'm a SharePoint admin and I'm a newbie to the databases. All my SharePoint web applications are connected to the sql server 2005. I have my config database which is of just 45 MB but for some reason my log file grows very big. Currently the size of the log file ie ..LDF is 450 GB and I need to shrink the log file. when i try to go to management studio and right click the database and go to tasks and shirink database it does nothing. I also tried to make the database go offline and tried moving the MDF and LDF to another drive but when i right click database and select Take Offline it takes for ever running the process and at the end it doesn't go offline.
I dont have a Dev environment this is all in the production, Can anyone please help me with this issue. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

Schedule a transaction log backup. It ensures that the Transaction Log size is under check and most importantly provides point in time recovery option.
