The Report Server team is experiencing a problem with forms-based authentication and there is a KB article (KB2283036) that answers the very issue they are experiencing. Heeding the general best practice of only applying fixes for problems that your particular system is experiencing, I tried to find the hotfix code that will fix the KB2283036 problem - and I couldn't' find it. The only thing that I could find was CU3, which includes about 30 other fixes, none of which our system is experiencing. I'd rather not apply fixes and add code for things we're not experiencing and then have to test more extensively to make sure those fixes are working on our system.
Is it possible to apply only the code for one particular hotfix, without going to the CU level and include more code? In other words, can I apply hotfixes individually, as I need them, rather than applying an entire CU just to get the code for one hotfix??
Thanks for any suggestions, best practices or industry standards that you consider useful for me in this situation.

You could always ask them to send you the exact hotfix if you know which one it is, I think they zip and send it

Jayanth has the protocol here. Contact support and ask, but I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't do this. The CUs have been tested, and I'm not sure they'd go back and give you just that patch. Notice that it might also not be tested, so you might just decide to test the CU instead yourself and apply it.

Thank you both for responding to my question. I ended up applying the earliest CU that contained the fix for my users' problem rather than trying to contact Microsoft and have them send me the code for that particular hotfix. After testing, it looks like I'm not experiencing any problems in connection with the fix for the problem my users were seeing or the fixers for the problems that they weren't seeing!
Thanks again for your help.
