I suppose by mistake you added a Poll instead of Topic.
Anyways, can you copy the backup file to a different location and then try to restore the database?

I'm guessing the backup is damaged. Can you get another backup?

your two statements are contradicting each other. can u explain more on what you're doing?
also run RESTORE VERIFYONLY to see if the backup file is intact. Check BOL for details.
If the backup is damaged, you'll need to seek for a clean set of backup to restore.
