Installing Sql Server 2005 Enterprise Edition on Vista

  • I have checked couple of videos on Youtube. My process does look similar to that expect i dont get to Specify default or Named instance and couple of steps after that. After the whole installation process is completed, I see all the tools BIDS, SSMS, etc installed on the system. But the SSMS does open because it asks for a Server name and watever server name i am specifying opens it. Please let me know why the steps are being skipped ? And how to i get to know what exactly is my server name. Many Thanks ! I tried installing it couple of times and it dint work... So i reinstalled it again, Does this make any difference ?

    Thanks

  • You need to use the Developer edition to use the Enterprise features in Vista and your Vista must be Business or Ultimate if you plan to run SSRS because IIS 7 require Windows authentication to run SSRS. Check below for SQL Server 2005 operating system requirement.
