    using Enterprise edition you can only install the client tools on XP. You need the developer edition or an express edition to install on windows XP.

    With the AMD Phenom X3 8750 processor, SQL Server 2005 cannot be installed normally and the standard KB from Microsoft won't work either. The solution is at AMD's forum:
