Hello,
I am trying to upgrade SQL Server 2005 EXPRESS from MSDE SP4. I have installed MSDE SP4 in silent mode. This MSDE SP4 is as the Default instance. Now i want to upgrade it to Yukon SP3 Express for the same instance. If i change the instance name to Named it will be a different scenario. When i am trying to upgrade i observed following error:
autoSQL Failed. The error is: [Yukon_SP3] Setup [SQL] failed with error code 28086 (28086 is not a valid Windows network message number.

Can anybody please give me some pointers to this issue. I don't want to install different instances.

I am lost here why do you think you should upgrade MSDE to SQL Server 2005 Express in silent mode? That takes us to the next question did you find out if such implementation exist? The reason I am asking is who will resolve known issues with your upgrade when you run silent upgrade? I have more questions these will let you know what you are doing may not be valid. And no I did not check because I think what you are doing is crappy.
