Does a CLR Assembly autmaticaly (.dll) get backed up durring db backup

  • Hello all,

I just wrote my first CLR SP and installed it across our network. It occurred to me that as an external file, I do not know if the assembly is automatically backed up with the SQL Backup or not. I assume not but I would love some input. If it is any special concerns about restores if you are completely rebuilding a server?

    Thanks!

  • yes, the CLR is actually saved in the database, along with it's source code...so if you were to backup a database, change the CLR and redeploy it, then restore the database, the old version of your CLR is resotred, since it is part ofd the database.
