a simple authentication methodology for reporting services on the internet

  • I'm thoroughly confused by the options to implement reporting services on the internet. Seems like the custom extensions is being deemed the way, however seems like there are real world problems with that and the Microsoft sample appears to have many problems.

For just a real quick one-login authentication into one report on the internet using asp.net, would it be best to use the SOAP API with SSL?

Can this be done even with URL access and the reportviewer?

    How have others accomplished this?

What are the security risks and problems you have encountered?

    Thanks!

You have two options SharePoint integrated mode or Reportviewer and I don't think SSL is needed because even admin can access Report Manager but if you don't have permission to view a folder you cannot view that folder without content manager permissions. You also have the Web Service deployment option.
