Reinstall sql server 2005 reporting services

  • Hello comunity

I don´t know why , but when i install sql server 2005 i must be forget the option to install sql reporting services tool.

It´s possible without reinstalling sql , make only the installing of this services ?

What possible causes could be happenned for not installing this services, error due to advise on IIS not install.

It´s curious because when the setup have show that IIS component have not install, i cancel the instalation and on the control panel i install IIS, and after that i run again the setup??

My OS is Windows Vista SP1, and i apply the upgrade for sql server 2005 on SP2.

could someone explain hoa to resolve this problem, because i want now to explore the potencial of the reporting tools of sql to generate reports to me or to distribute with users permissions.

    Many thanks

  • Your Vista must be Vista Ultimate or Business so IIS 7 can be configured for IIS 6 like in the first link below so you can install Reporting Services.

If you are running Vista home basic or premium you need a work around posted in a link in the thread below.

  • Hello Gift

Thanks for your reply, also i have one question ,do i must uninstall and reinstall SQL server completly or can i reinstall only the services for reporting.

I can do reinstall for the services throught setup DVD or not ?

    Many thanks

  • You need to copy the content of your DVD/CD to your C drive and rerun setup and choose repair then make sure you choose all components because Microsoft thinks you can use SSRS to create reports with SSIS, SSAS Cubes, SSAS Mining model and relational tables.
