Provider Load Error in Reporting Services

  • Guys....I have just successfully installed MS SQL 2005 Standard Edition in my workstation.

Now, when I am ready to configure the Report Server (Start>MSSQL2005>Configuration Tool>Configure Report Server)

I am getting the pop up that says "Provider Load Error"

I tried connecting to the reporting services from Management Studio as well, the same error pops up there.

What should I do? What did I do wrong? I never had this before.

  • Is this on a 64-bit system?

  • No. It is just my workstation. A 32-bit machine

  • Dang. I found an article online that had to do with this error on 64-bit machines, but it's not at all applicable to 32-bit systems.

I'd say it's time to hit Google/Live/Yahoo/whatever, and see if you can find more details. Otherwise, it's a call to MS tech support.

  • I have found the solution to this problem. What I did was just to copy C:\WINDOWS\system32\wbem\framedyn.dll to C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\90\Shared\. But this solved only the configure Report server part. I am still not able to connect to the reporting services through Management Studio.

Hope my answer would help someone.........

If you have the solution for the other one, please post it as well.

  • Okay. It works on all now. ( I swear it did not work the first time). I am still confused how it is working now OR why it did not worked before when I did the same changes.

Here is what I did to solve this matter:

    1. Double click on your My Computer

    2. Copy and Paste this there [C:\WINDOWS\system32\wbem]

    3. Scroll down until you see framedyn.dll

    4. Open another My Computer.

    5. Copy and Paste this there [C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\90]

    6. You should see a folder called "shared" here.

    7. Now, right click>copy>framedyn.dll (the previous one)

    8. Paste it on shared folder.

    It will definately work now!

Others who have success with this are welcome to write in this topic here as well.:)
