Setting Service Settings in SQL Server Services to Manual

    I am taking a class and I have to first stop SQL Server...how do I do that?

    Then...

    How do I go into the SQL Server services and change the service settings to Manual?

    Start -> All Programs -> Microsoft SQL Server 2005 -> Configuration Tools -> SQL Server Configuration Manager

    Under SQL Server Services, right-click the component in question - i.e. SQL Server (MSSQLSERVER) and select properties. Click the Service tab and select the start mode from the dropdown.
