SSRS Export to Excel SubTotal Behavior

  • ======================================================

    I would like to share my findings as I could not find any related information easily. I will try to use Microsoft format on their KB articles as much as possible to provide the familiar format.

    ======================================================

    The report may display subtotal once before the final row of the group and one more time after the final row of the group.

    SYMPTOMPS

    Consider the following scenario in Microsoft SQL Server 2005 SP2 Reporting Service. You create a customized report that contains a table with multiple rows of values that exceeds a page when exported to PDF. Then add a grouping and subtotal for the group. If the final row of the group is displayed in the next page, you will see the following behavior:

    1. Exported PDF displays subtotal for the group at the end of the page that the first row of the group is displayed

    2. Exported PDF displays subtotal for the group after the final row of the group

    CAUSE

    The exact cause is not yet known. This may be cause by the possible bug in Export to PDF function in SSRS.

    RESOLUTION

    To resolve this problem, modify the report with the following setting:

    1. Highlight the entire row that Subtotal is displayed

    2. Locate WritingMode under International in Properties window

    3. Enter tb-rl for WritingMode
