Hi All,
I tried to install sql server 2000 on my pc with Windows XP OS.
I ran the setup and it gives me pop up mssg the server version can not be installed on this OS. Only Client version can be installed then i installed Client version successfully. then i tried it to register it but one thing i doesn't understand that there is no entry of sql server in setting->ControlPanel->services
I register it successfully but when i made any attempt to connect it is giving me the pop up msg somthing like RPC can not connect and somthing like ConnectionOpen(Connect())
How should i proceed to register and create a database in it and also how to start sql server (if no entry in services)?
Plz help me out.
Thanks in advance.

Anil,
just as the pop-up message said, you cannot install the server on windows XP which is a desktop OS. Either use Personal Edition or Developer Edition. These are the only edition which will install the server on XP. Oh, and MSDE of course, but that doesn't inhave the client tools.
