I am a Novice SQL user and beginner IIS and Web Services person. I am trying to install and configure Reporting Services. On the Reporting Services Configuration dialog, under the Reporting Service screen I clicl on Start. I always get an error, it is to vague for me to figure out. The Web Services Identity is also not configured. Everything else on the left hand title bar is configured correctly.
Anyone have suggestions or can you point me to an informative web site?

I'd skip trying to start the service until you get some of the other items configured.
My Current shot at what to do:
- click on Report Server Virtual Directory, click on New, pich the name it gives you and click the "default settings"
- same for the Report Manager directory
- To start - consider using just one of the built-in accounts (like - local System)
- Database setting: Set up a correct database connection, then click on "new" to create a SSRS database from scratch, pick "Service credentials" as credentials type.
Once you're this far and the items above this are "green", THEN try starting the service.

Your lack of planning does not constitute an emergency on my part...unless you're my manager...or a director and above...or a really loud-spoken end-user..All right - what was my emergency again?
