Is there such a thing as an upgrade from 2000 to 2005. I mean I know if i get 2005 its upgrading my system but my question is does the product come as an upgrade or do I have to buy 2005 and this is considered the upgrade. I dont feel im being all that clear here so let me try again. Usually when you upgrade a product you simply buy an upgrade package, for instance, say im running windows 2000 pro, I can buy and XP upgrade that says upgrade on the box and would not be able to be installed if I were try to install it on a machine that no operating system. This is usually alot cheaper and this is why i am wondering.

There is only one version of SQL Server 2005. It will install or upgrade as needed.
As far as pricing, I don't think there are upgrade discounts, but I could be wrong. you'd have to check with a reseller.

The only discounts I've heard of are volume licensing. http://www.microsoft.com/sql/howtobuy/editionspricing.mspx
