  I'd think you would just pause mirroring (http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms175082.aspx), then detach and attach and restart mirroring.

  You can try out the suggestion given by Steve.

  After attaching in mirror take a tlog backup of the database from principal server and restore with standby option in the mirrored server and then start mirroring.
