My organization is changing data solutions from a Sybase system to MS SQL 2005. We currently have a company called KidSmart (Sybase) that is our service provider. We will be changing over to Social Solutions (MS SQL). I unfortunately do not have a firm grip on either platform; I do however work daily in MS Access and was told that the learning curve for SQL Reporting would not be far a stretch.
Can anyone suggest (other than a bullet to the head, for all of you wise-cracking techies) avenues that I might journey to find my lost way. I have been to Microsoft, seen the tons of information offered, but I really need a more hands on approach to this stuff. For a beginner what are some prerequisites? I have taken an Access level 1, 2, and 3 course at New Horizons and as stated earlier work in Access daily, designing the tables, establishing relationships, building forms, queries, and reports.

Install SQL server on your machine and read BOOKS online...

Are you interested in development side or amdin side?
Check for few basic books of sql 2005...

Mohammed is right, get a version of SQL Server installed. Then the next thing I'd suggest is to take a look at Safari (http://safari.informit.com/ or http://safari.oreilly.com/). Do a search on SQL Server Reporting Services and you'll see a whole host of available books online, some of them hands on.
