SQL2000 x86 ITA on Win2003 x64 !

  • Hi All,

I'm trying to install SQL 2000 std x86 ITA version on a Windows 2003 x64 SP1 ITA  (with ita language pack!) server.
Also the SQL SP4 is the ITAlian version.

But my local enterprise manager console show all in english (properties says I'm using ITA SQL server)!!!

Can you help fix me that?

    Thnx,
    Mat

PS: like suggested by the autorun,  I moved installing from
    CD:\x86\setup\sqlsetup.exe
  • The SQL Server 2000 64bits project is a partnership between Intel and Microsoft using Itanium chips so it will not let you install the 32bits version in a Windows 2003 64bits edition because we used a pre beta 1 build to do the beta testing of the 64bits version of SQL Server 2000.  I can bet if you change to SQL Server 2005 32bits version it will install because that product includes AMD chips.  Hope this helps.

  • I'm not using an SQL x64, but just a Standard x32 (ITA localization + obviously ITA SP4)!
The installation goes fine, except for the language!
The SQL properties show I installed the italian version, but the console interface is in english!

I can't understand if it depends from the core OS language or from something wrong in my installation...
I hope to find an optional -parameter to add upon launching the installation, but I'm looking uselessly since two days...

    thank you anyway!

  • Rerun setup and choose repair and change the langauge because the Windows language file is a INI file which you cannot modify but you can change SQL Server language.  Sorry about the missunderstanding.  Hope this helps.
