SQL Server in a virtual environment for production

  • I have been trying to get a feeling for using SQL2K on a virtual machine for production databases.  I can see where VM can really be useful in a dev situation but don't feel right about SQL + VM for production.  Is there anyone out there doing this and, if so, how well is it going?  Also, what made you do it in the first place?

  • I'm not sure that microsoft fully support sql server on vm ware - from experience I wouldn't use vm ware in production. 2003R2 comes with virtual servers, maybe that's the answer.
