Reporting Services access - security

  • I've installed Reporting Services on a server MSSQL. The installation created 2 virtual directories within IIS : Reportserver & Reports. The security on these virtual directories is the following

    Anonymous Access is disabled

    Integrated Windows Authentification is enabled

While surfing to the Reporting Services URL http://mssql/reports  I get a login Prompt. The only option to pass this login prompt is to type here a domain account with local administrator privileges on the MSSQL server.

In the Reporting Services environment I gave the Reporting Services roles Browser & Viewer to all our domain users, so normally they should have access to Reporting Services.

How can I configure Reporting Services so that our Domain users have acces without adding them in the local admingroup of the server and without having a login Prompt?

  • José Rotsaert,

Could you please educate me on how you granted your Domain users Windows group to the Browser & viewer roles on the Rport Server?

I'm having difficulty understanding Reporting Services Security!

    Kindest Regards,

  • You can give access to domain users (one you are logged in as local admin (for the moment) on the Reporting Services URL http://mssql/reports  then you can assign roles to your domain users on the Home folder or on subfolders

  • Ok. I gave access to the "Domain Users" group to the "General Users Role" to 1 folder that contains 1 report.

When a user browses to the reportmanager home page, they can see all folders and all reports. How can that be?

    Kindest Regards,
