SQL Server 2000 Standard to Enterprise Edition

  • We are upgrading from SQL Server 2000 Standard to Enterprise Edition.

    Questions.

    (1)  We are considering installing SQL Server 2000 Enterprise Edition on a server running Standard.  Could someone please tell me what is modicifed, e.g., system tables, etc.?

    (2)  If we install SQL Server 2000 Enterprise Edition on a new server, can we restore the system tables from the Standard version on the Enterprise Edition?

    Thank you.

  • You don't want to restore system tables from a standard install to an enterprise install.   For example MSDB standard edition doesn't contain log shipping tables found in Enterprise edition.  Once you upgrade take new backups.  You should be backing up system tables (especially master and msdb) periodically anyway.
