There are a few tricks. One is to set the package to connect to (local), which will be the default instance.
another is to use the Dynamic Properties task to query @@server, but you need a connection for that.
You could also use a global variable, but you'd have to set this.
If you don't use instances, I'd use (local), otherwise, there isn't a way.
