Distribution Agent - Task Refresh Issue

  • Our scheduled distribution agent task constantly loops. And as a result, (as this was explained to me), it basically never flags as completed so the task has a failure icon next to it. But, it's status shows as executing (since last ran) and the replication monitor icon is shown as running as well.

I was wondering if anyone knew how to refresh this icon on the fly?

  • Depending on the type of replication this is not an issue. In fact it should keep looping until it fails then it will restart or you stop it. If you have had a fail it will be maintain a red failure icon in regards to the last execution. If you do not have a red icon count yourself lucky or you recently stopped a job in some way. Look at the job steps and their code and it will make sense as to why it loops.

  • Understood and it's really more of a cosmetic issue. But we have some clients who monitor their jobs (and some who don't

    >:( but are thrown by this. And it's not limited to Repl, we have other looping tasks as well. If we could append\create a new script to go out there and regularly refresh these jobs, that would be cool. Tks for your reply.

  • It would be nice but unfortunately the icon is based on last completion and won't update until you cancel then they will complain their task was canceled and want to know why (been there).
