Builtin\Administrators are by default member of Sysadmin role

  • As per my understanding Builtin\Administrators are by default member of Sysadmin role. For my SQL 2000 DB which is in Mixed mode when I execute sp_helpsrvrolemember, the result does not show builtin\admins at all but when i execute "select * from sysxlogins" i have builtin\admin listed there. So my question is, does in this scenario builtin\admins have any kind of login to my DB if so what role/privilege they can have?

    Thanks in advance.

  • As long as you have the Builtin\Administrators account in SQL Server, anyone who is a member of that role will have SysAdmin access to that instance of SQL Server.
