One of the best comments on trust I ever heard was this one:

"When a train goes through a tunnel and it gets dark, you don't throw away the ticket and jump off. You sit still and trust the engineer."

We just have to learn to sit still longer, that's all. We are so conditioned today to immediately not trust people from the get go...:-D
