So... in addition to being a full time manager and network admin, the decision has been made that I should also be a DBA. I was wondering if you guys might be able to point me at some articles or whitepapers that could teach me the raw basics. Thank you so much!

1- You can start with Books Online, chapter 1.
2- Think twice before doing anything then, when you are totally sure step back and think about it one more time.
3- Always remember you do not own the data, you own the structure but neither the data nor the code.
4- You are responsible for having the database available -including Disaster Management - and for the integrity of the data; nothing more, nothing less.
