Hello, I am a bit mystified when it comes to setting up Domain accounts to run SQL Server 2005 on.
I willl be installing SQL at work soon, but I was installing it at home and during install I selected the local system account thinking I can change the account it runs on afterwards.
So after installation, patching etc I created an account and added it to the users group created by SQL during install, but the service would not restart. A quick search on google didnt yeild anything useful, so I was hoping somebody could point out what it is I must be missing.
I thought that having been placed in the correct group the account would inherit everything it needed to run SQL server.
Regards,
D.

If you alter the service account using "SQL Server Configuration Manager" it sets the needed rights for you.
Check "Service Account" in books online.
