I have a sql server 2005, I have some databases taken offline for some reasons.
There are some hardware maintence over the weekend.
But after the server reboot, I see them online now.
Is that something normal?
I did a test on SQL 2008 box, after restart the originally offline database will not come back online.
so not sure if this is sql server 2005 only, or is someone manually bring them back online?
Thanks
Sorry, I should name the post title as database offline.

I found that in the log it apparently looks like when server is restarted, the offline databases are brought back online.
Is this a designed behaviour?
I did try on sql 2008 box, when restart the service, orignially offline database are still offline. Maybe reboot the server make the difference?
or sql server 2008 or sql server 2005 works differently on the offline dbs?
Thanks

I was unaware of a difference in behavior. However I would expect an offline database to stay offline till I said different. However, if you are seeing other behavior I guess we're gonna have to go with what is actually happening..
Sorry man..
