Apologies if this is covered elsewhere -- my searches weren't successful.
The SQL Server behind my company's ERP system was recently upgraded from SQL Server 2000 to SS 2005. I am sometimes asked to write or troubleshoot queries that run in that database. In most cases, our old SQL code runs fine in SS 2005, and often runs significantly faster. Not always, though. Some scripts hang or are dramatically slower. So, will someone please direct me to a discussion or book (or whatever) that explains why previously functional SQL code might fail or perform poorly after an upgrade to SS 2005?
Thanks in advance...

There are multiple reasons, but often it's a different execution plan than you expect, and that can be because of statistics being out of date. I usually look to check on statistics or indexes after upgrading.
Here are a few discussions:

I'll talk to the dba who did the upgrade and see if we might have old statistics.
Thank you!
