I have just set up a new development client machine running Vista home basic with a fresh installation of SQL Server 2005 Standard edition.
I have selected all components as part of the install which worked 100%.
However, i noticed when i installed that the Reporting Services tick box was greyed out and does not appear to exist in my set up?
I've seen this KB article which indicates you need to install IIS first and turn on ASP.NET, etc... which will then allow RS to be selected during installation.
however i have already done that from "turn windows features on/off" in control panel.
but somehow i dont find asp.net etc. features in my windows. i m using vista home basic.
how can we use reporting services in vista home basic???????
pls help its very urgent..........

The short answer is you cannot do that the long answer is for development there is a work around using SSRS 2008 with SQL Server 2005 engine. Check the thread below for details.
The reason is SSRS 2005 require Windows authentication and only Vista Ultimate and Business comes with Windows authentication.
